Interested in participating in the AARDAS Project?

Welcome to the Animal Abuse Registry Database Administration System (AARDAS). This web-based software system is designed to enable designated representatives from Animal Welfare and Humane Law Enforcement organizations across the country to participate in sharing and updating information about abuse crimes in an effort to compile the most detailed and accurate representation of animal abuse crimes in existence.

Goals:

The ultimate goal of AARDAS is to allow real-time access to statistics and information about abuse crimes and their abusers, from which we can:
  1. Establish a global network of dedicated administrators who will be responsible for cases within their own region
  2. Enable Rescue Shelters to better screen their applicants
  3. Allow the public access to public record abuse crime information that is presented in an un-biased and organized manner
  4. Compare statistical analyses on abuser profiles, to learn what age groups, cities, etc require more humane education attention and funding

Overview of Administrator Responsibilities:

The amount of time you choose to invest into adding and updating cases and abuser information is entirely up to what you are willing to give. This project is 100% volunteer run, so we do not demand a specific number of cases per month. Obviously, the more time you're able/willing to put into researching and following up on cases, the more information we will be able to use. With the introduction of the new statistical graphing, follow-up and thoroughness is even more important than ever.

What You Would Actually be Doing:

Its very simple: When your organization comes across an abuse case, or you personally hear about a case in the news - you would log into the admin area, check to see if the case had already been submitted. If the case has not been submitted, you would enter it as a new case, making sure you specify the abuser(s) name (when the case is not open) as well as the source of your information.

If you or your organization has been selected to participate in this program, you should know that you have been chosen from a large group of candidates, and that there are certain policies and procedures you have agreed to which must be maintained at all times.

Agreement:

By participating in the AARDAS program, you agree to the following:

You will only report or update criminal cases of animal abuse
You will not enter non-criminal cases, even if the subject matter is strongly disagreeable to your own morals (such as animal testing, anti-fur, vegetarianism, etc).
You will never knowingly report false information
You will present the facts in a manner that is clear and unbiased.
You will only report facts about which you have documented proof, and you will never present hearsay or rumour as fact.
If the investigation is still in progress, you will never report information that could compromise the investigation in any way.
You will provide the supporting documentation to the AARDAS staff if requested.
You will never share your login information with another individual or organization - if you require additional logins for individuals in your organization, you will communicate with the AARDAS staff and that information will be provided.

You MUST agree to all of the above before you will be considered as a candidate.
